Kings Camp
Lodge style Classic colonial hideaway
A five star safari experience
How about stepping back in time for a while? Maybe into an era that only exists here, in South Africa. In Kings Camp – a small safari camp in Timbavati Game Reserve – you will find a time where royal luxury, personal service and true pampering are the standard. This is destination de-stress. So invite relaxation into your body while lying in your private hammock, softly swinging and overlooking the open savanna. Or when you receive a massage from Kings Camp’s soft-handed spa therapists. Managers Warren and Lisha Moore, together with their staff, will always go that extra mile; to give you the best stay possible and to make sure you can cross out all the sighted animals on your bucket list.
There are eleven generously spaced thatched suites at Kings Camp with colonial style interiors decorated in tones of dark wood. Suites are all air-conditioned, have mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms with cool Victorian ball-and-claw baths and indoor and outdoor double showers. There are also tea and coffee facilities, a minibar and your own private veranda (with a hammock!) directly accessible from your room. Or grab a good novel and stretch out on one of the soft sofas in the comfortable living areas. There is a thatched viewing deck overlooking a waterhole (draws a crowd of thirsty wildlife), an open plan lounge and bar, spacious dining room with views over the bush and a library with internet access and a television – although, don’t miss the ‘live’ nature documentary playing right in front of you. Add to this a fully equipped gym, an array of pampering treatments, a well-stocked curio shop, traditional boma and swimming pool, and you almost want to skip a game drive to spend more time in the lodge. Almost…

Tripadvisor comments Kings Camp
The whole team at Kings Camp were welcoming, friendly and caring and nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent and the outdoor shower was wonderful. The food was great and the safaris were great. All in all a lovely place to stay and experience South Africa. I recommend the massages - just wonderful!

Amazing staff and delightful rooms set the tone from the start. The vehicles were really comfortable and the Rangers were great with the never ending questions from our children. It was great to know animals nipped through the camp and added to the excitement were many animals at the waterhole nearby. We were delighted to see leopard as well as the rest of the big 5. My favourite is still the giraffe....who made an appearance! We shared our evening dinner table with lovely guests and loved hearing about their experiences as they had had a longer stay. All round we felt pampered and privileged to stay in such a great place.
