Simbavati Hilltop Lodge

Lodge style Hideaway with broad horizons

On top of the world

Let your mind wander as you soak up the serene air, sip a cocktail and look over the African bush, where the sun goes down far, far away at the horizon. Not only the views are a stellar, you will soon discover that Simbavati Hilltop Lodge hums with the sounds of wildlife in the Timbavati Game Reserve. The bush that the Big Five, white lion, wild dogs, zebras, giraffes, hundreds of bird species and many others call their home. Located at a small mountaintop (koppie in South African) you gaze over the distant foothills of the Drakensberg Mountain Range and the Nhlaralumi River. Host Lelanie welcomes you with a glass of homemade lemonade in this village-like, contemporary, wood constructed safari camp, provided with four-star facilities. Sit yourself down after a day of wildlife spotting at the 360° bar, surrounded by stunning African skies. Dinners and drinks in the main area are chances for friendships with fellow wildlife enthusiasts. Or kick back in your own luxurious tent and wallow in a warm bath, while elephants pass by. Either way, it will be a top of the world experience.

The tents - stylish, yet warmly decorated - at Simbavati Hilltop Lodge are sprinkled over the mountaintop. Well designed and planned out, so every tent has a ton of privacy. As the soft interior seems to disappear in the surrounding bush, nothing stands between you and a private affair with African nature. All luxurious tents come with a downy king-size bed, modern en-suite bathroom with bath and in- and outdoor shower; for an unforgettable morning rinse accompanied by sounds of awaking wildlife. You will also find eco-friendly biodegradable shower products and insect repellent, a safe, hair dryer, laundry service, air conditioning, ceiling fan and an electric blanket to keep you warm during the winter. And then there is that one thing that makes each of these tents priceless: a private deck with stunning vistas.

Tripadvisor comments Simbavati Hilltop

Wow! What a spectacular place! I was at the Simbavati Hilltop Lodge for 3 nights. The service and staff were amazing. I really enjoyed the experience they had to offer. Colbert and Derek were my guide and tracker. Great knowledge of all animals even the birds. So exciting everyday to get out and go for the game drives (one early morning and one early evening). Breakfast, lunch and dinners were included and the 3 chefs they had were serving gourmet food. I even booked a massage one afternoon. The tents were spacious and very clean and comfortable. Great views of the river valley where you could see animals in the morning. Felt like a 5 star hotel underneath the 5 billion stars we could see every night. Colbert really did his best for us to see the Big 5 (elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard). Very highly recommended.

WOW! What a great experience. Our accommodations was a pied-a-terre overlooking a waterhole with frequent sitings. Pictures on the website, while true, do not give you the feel for the comfort and spaciousness. Sitting on our private deck in a chaise with a glass of SA wine was awesome.
